B2 · ponto 2
Future continuous no B2: ações em andamento no futuro, planos que decorrem da rotina, perguntas corteses e deduções sobre o presente.
O future continuous (will be + -ing) descreve uma ação que estará acontecendo em um ponto do futuro: “This time tomorrow, I'll be flying to Tokyo.” Também descreve ações simultâneas ou interrompidas: “While you're sleeping, I'll be working.”
| Uso | Exemplo |
|---|---|
| Ação em andamento num momento futuro | At 9 tomorrow, I'll be giving a presentation. |
| Ações simultâneas no futuro | While you're travelling, we'll be preparing the office. |
| Evento que decorre do curso normal das coisas | I'll be seeing Ana tomorrow, so I'll tell her. |
| Pergunta cortês sobre planos | Will you be needing the car tonight? |
| Previsão sobre o presente (suposição) | It's eight. They'll be having dinner now. |
Compare: “At 9 I'll be having breakfast” (estarei no meio do café), “I'll have breakfast at 9” (vou tomar café às 9, um plano ou decisão) e “By 9 I'll have had breakfast” (até as 9, já terei tomado café). Também é possível usar still (“I'll still be working at midnight”) e by then / by the time.
This time next year, I'll be living in Canada.
Nesta época no ano que vem, estarei morando no Canadá.
Don't call after ten; I'll be sleeping.
Não ligue depois das dez; estarei dormindo.
Atenção: Verbos de estado (know, believe, own, want, love) normalmente não usam o continuous: “I'll know the results on Friday” (não “I'll be knowing”). Para perguntas corteses, Will you be...ing soa menos direto que “Will you...?”.
